Remington Runners are a small friendly competition dog agility training club based at Catfoss in East Yorkshire. We train on Wednesday evenings 6pm – 8pm in an outdoor paddock. The class is open to people at competition level, ideally already competing e.g. KC, BAA, UKA, Unaffiliated etc all training is carried out on competition standard equipment. Remington Runners Agility Club has been set by Sally Grimes and Claire Thorpe this year. They met at agility classes in 2008, unfortunately the classes finished unexpectedly, as there was no other suitable training in the area they along with 3 others set up an agility club. Their previous club did very well but grew very quickly sadly taking up too much time resulting in their our own dogs not having the training they deserved. So they have gone back to basics with a small group of like-minded people focusing on training to competition standard.
A little bit more about them both
Sally started competing with Zak her GSD he tried very hard but just wasn’t enjoying himself and carried on to make his mum happy so sadly he was retired. As the agility bug had bitten along came Kandy Sally’s lovely little working cocker. Kandy has been competing since the end of 2010 in unaffiliated shows with her first KC in April 2011. Kandy has just recently won into grade 2 at the June Weimeraner Show and has a board full of rosettes and a large collection of trophies.
Claire started with Bella her loopy Labrador, she’s not the easiest of dogs to run as watches Claire so much and is very speedy. She has taught Claire a huge amount in the process, they might not be steady and consistent but when it goes right it’s brilliant. They started competing at unaffiliated shows at the end of 2008 and KC shows last year they have improved lots over the last six months so much so Bella has won into grade 2 at the April Hare N Hounds show and recently into grade 3 at the June RVA show.
Both Sally and Claire have completed Kim & Shaun Hunts training for trainers 1 and 2 course.
